How do I get more traffic to my website to increase sales?

If you have a website, you want to get more traffic. The more people visiting your page, the better.

But how? What can you do to have more people reading your content and buying your product? How do those big websites get thousands of visits every single day? What’s their secret?

The answer to that question is not going to be a surprise.

You don’t get more traffic…you BUY it

There is no magic. If you think you can get tons of traffic to your website quickly and for free, snap out of it. It can’t be done. Anyone who claims to do it is a fucking liar.

There are only two ways to get traffic quickly:

  1. Redirect people from another website you own that already has tons of traffic;
  2. Buying traffic.

But what does it mean to buy traffic?

Paid advertising, of course. Facebook ads, Instagram ads, Google AdWords, programmatic ads. The more money you spend, the more traffic you will get.

Back in 2015, I was launching a website for one of my projects in Brazil. I created a landing page saying something like “I will launch this website soon during a live event. Subscribe to get more information.” Then I configured a campaign on Facebook, for US$ 14.65 a day, for 5 days, to get people to visit my website and subscribe to my email list.

At the end of the 5 days, I got thousands of visitors and 500 subscriptions to my email list.

Now, how long do you think it would take for me to get thousands of visitors and 500 email subscribers without spending any money on it?

Just look at this website, for example. I started it in March 2017 and have been promoting it every single day. As I write this article, I haven’t spent any money on advertising yet, and these are the results I got in the past 7 days:

As you can see, I’m not even remotely close to have thousands of visitors and one hundred subscribers every day. But if I just create a campaign on Facebook, Google AdWords or other platforms, I can get as much visitors as I’m willing to pay.

But if you can’t or don’t want to spend money on advertising, you just hustle, work on connecting with people, and wait for the right opportunity while you grow your audience little by little. It’s gonna take a long time before you start to get significant traffic.

What about SEO?

Search Engine Optimization it’s very important, but again, there’s no magic. SEO will work only to IMPROVE your traffic, considering that it’s good already. If you have tons of traffic, a good SEO strategy will get you even more visitors. However, if you have little to no traffic, SEO is not gonna save you, because it’s gonna take a long time before it makes any significant difference.

Business owners can’t be naive. If you run a business you know that there’s no free lunch. Everything comes at a price. If you’re not spending money to get traffic, you need to spend something else: time.

After all, time is money.
